Listening, integrating and applying

David recognises that leaders are grappling with the complex challenges posed by accelerating globalisation and changing technology. David’s comprehensive leadership and adult learning training, combined with his corporate experience, allows him to provide transformational learning experiences for leaders. He supports them to find their current “growing edge”, usually a challenge they are facing, and become better able to handle complexity, ambiguity and change.

David is experienced at facilitating discussions as part of leadership development programmes that support participants to integrate and apply their learning and knowledge back into their workplace. He invites leaders to meet him in the exploration of their “being” in a way that is authentic and vulnerable. Together they pursue the work of surfacing the tough adaptive issues in a way that allows insights and patterns to emerge that allows leaders to grow and develop.

David uses Liberating Structures (LS) for programme design and delivery. This method creatively engages all participants by allowing them to focus on what can be accomplished now with the imagination and resources they have at hand. Learning sessions are very interactive as everyone engages in seriously playful curiosity, allowing them to spur creativity, broaden potential solutions, and enrich peer-to-peer learning.

Specialising in evidence-based, solution-focused practice, David draws on a variety of leadership theories and models to apply scientific rigour to what makes people thrive and excel. His specialised competency areas include: behavioural change, complex adaptive leadership, collective leadership, adult development, motivation, communication skills, strengths development, mindfulness and executive presence.

David was involved as a coach in Leadership Lab’s inaugural CDHB 2020 Leaders’ Programme and one of their many MOE Change Management Kahui Ako projects.
