Shaz is passionate about working with people, learning and growing with whānau and tangata whenua, to help make our communities a better place to be and to see people reach their potential. Shaz has worked with young people and whānau for over 30 years, is a lifelong learner of te reo me ōna tikanga and lover of kapa haka. Shaz’s love for experiencing other cultures has taken her around the world living and working in a range of educational settings from Te Atatū to London to Wuxi.
In her “day’ job she is an educator with over 25 yeary of teaching and management experience in Early Childhood, and more recently the Primary School sector where she has worked extensively with tamariki, whānau, and community to develop kaupapa Māori initiatives within the schools and centres she has worked.
Shaz is a relentless optimist who is passionate about social justice, about her part in making the world a better place for all and working alongside others to help them reach their potential.
Shaz is also a consultant in the Leadership Lab Cultural capability in Aotearoa kura project where she works with teachers to develop their competence and confidence in culturally sustaining practices.
