Growing Future Leaders

Young leaders bring passion and fearlessness to their work – and they also make their decisions based on values. This powerful, effective and humane approach is the future.

Our first LinC Activator of 2020 is a chance for you to meet some next-generation leaders who lift their communities by utilising passion and building on strengths. We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to hear from these outstanding young leaders. You’ll be inspired and you might learn something very useful for your own community.

This is our first virtual event, come along and have a kōrero online.

Bridget Williams – World Economic Forum Global Shaper + CEO Bead and Proceed

After practicing law for three years, a more creative and sustainable lifestyle was calling. Just over a year ago, Bridget hung up her High Court gown and put on a necklace, thus Bead and Proceed was born. Bead and Proceed exists to educate people about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to inspire action towards them through creativity. Her commitment to the SDGs has led Bridget to being endorsed by the Right Honourable Helen Clark and selected as a recipient of the Outstanding Young Persons Programme for 2019. Her love for creativity and the arts led Bridget to take up a position on the Christchurch Arts Festival Board. When it comes to community and her passion for Ōtautahi – Bridget is one of the youngest elected Christchurch City Council Community Board Members and a World Economic Forum Global Shaper. These positions have taught Bridget the power of young people to have impact and her passion for active citizenship. It’s fair to say that creativity, sustainability and community are the cornerstones of Bridget’s values.

What is Activator?

The LinC Project Activator has been designed to support community leaders across Canterbury with a speaker series aimed at inspiring and growing leaders in their communities. Each Activator event, had a different theme and focus, and offered amazing opportunities for discussion, engagement and learning. These public events are open to anyone ready to be inspired, challenged and motivated.

What Is The LinC Project?

Linc Project is part of Leadership Lab aimed at building communities through supporting local leaders.

The LinC Project started as a 10-month, strengths-based leadership programme for 40+ individuals from communities across Greater Christchurch in 2014. The second group began in December 2015, with 35 leaders from ‘community organisations’ and 10 leaders from Government organisations. In 2018 the LinC project becomes LinC Incubator, LinC Cultivator and Activator.

The intention of LinC is to support and sustain these leaders, their colleagues and their wider communities.
