Tammi Martin

"I love the opportunity to collaboratively create and facilitate authentic 'bumping spaces' characterised by dimensions of Hauora/wellbeing (physical, social, emotional or spiritual). These 'spaces' are where the magic happens on both a personal and collective level. "

Creating, energising and inspiring

Tammi’s experience in education, leadership and coaching is extensive. She has worked in diverse teaching and learning contexts – as a University Lecturer in Initial Teacher and Coach Education at the University of Canterbury, a Surf Therapy Practitioner and coach, a secondary physical education and health teacher, in mainstream, special education and alternative education contexts here in Aotearoa and internationally. She actively advocates for the needs of neurodiverse learners and continues to explore the potential for Unconventional Spaces of Learning here in Aotearoa.

Tammi’s passion is to facilitate spaces where the unique contributions of many combine to ensure emergent possibilities are captured in creative, culturally responsive, courageous projects which aim to address a range of complex issues. She does this through developing deep relational interactions within group and individual settings in order to authenticate and extend skills, knowledge and purpose in a range of contexts.

She is co-founder and director of Surfwise.Waikuku, an holistic coaching space which  utilises the ocean as the context for transformation and surfing as the teacher. The summer season is full of varied programmes which enhance socio-ecological outcomes.

Tammi is also a community development facilitator and mentor in her own community of North Canterbury, and also a wide range of diverse communities across Waitaha. She has been a part of Leadership Lab from very early on and has contributed at a strategy level, as co-lead of the LinC Incubator and programme facilitator. More recently she also works as a Clifton Strengths coach.

“Something quite extraordinary happens when a group of talented, gorgeously giving, richly diverse and loving human beings come together in a space where a collision of intent is purposefully nurtured. “
