Leadership Lab creates events to gather people meaningfully. We organise over 40 events a year and when we think about providing catering at our in-person events, we can’t help but think Can Do Catering. We’ve had many participants comment on the delicious food which enhanced their positive experience (especially during COVID-19 hardship in 2020). We’re grateful for the care Can Do put into looking after our participants and also making a real difference in providing meaningful work to people with disabilities.
Can Do has provided us with creative, healthy menus for our in-person gatherings for many years and they have a unique story to tell. Here’s an chance to show our gratitude and use this Pānui to share a bit about them.
Can Do Catering is a social enterprise that provides residents and clients of the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust with real, meaningful and paid employment opportunities. Mainstream employment is usually not an option for these people due to their physical impairments and care needs.
Working at Can Do Catering brings a great sense of pride, from the creation of the food right through to its delivery. Employees feel a sense of purpose, as well as gaining excellent culinary skills. Catering Assistant Tommy describes how he feels working for Can Do Catering,
“It’s helping prepare the food and then delivering it, it makes me feel really good, getting everything done.”
Can Do Catering provides creative and healthy food with ingredients that are sourced locally, or grown spray free from their own garden. Their food is top notch! They have been running for six years strong, and have been a finalist in the Westpac Champion Business Awards multiple times.
Can Do is truly a catering company with a difference, and we are thrilled to continue working with their lovely team in 2021.
