Lexie Reuben

"Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei – for us and our children after us. I am committed to working for my hapū, iwi and wider community. It is in my whakapapa; it is part of who I am as a person."

Super-organised, hilarious, help-aholic

Ko Whata-a-rama te maunga, Ko Waimakariri te awa, Ko Ngāi Tahu te iwi, Ko Ngāi Tūāhuriri te hapū, No Tuahiwi ahau, Ko Lexie Reuben tōku ingoa

I grew up in Tuahiwi, it is my tūrangawaewae, my place of belonging in this world. The late 1990s and early 2000’s was a period of monumental change for our people and for Ngāi Tahu as an iwi. With the Ngāi Tahu Settlement in 1998 and the creation of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu it was a huge turning point in our history, one our people had worked towards for seven generations. It is little wonder as to why I am so committed to working for my hapū, iwi and wider community. It is in my whakapapa; it is part of who I am as a person.

I am a proven people leader with a wealth of transferable skills gained over a career focused on developing people to pursue their strengths and passions.  Subscribing to the Servant Leader ethos, I truly believe that people thrive when they feel appreciated, supported and are treated well.

I pride myself on forming collaborative partnerships to achieve better outcomes by leading by example, thus influencing others to do the same.  I am now seeking to gain a formal business leadership qualification to enhance my practice and to support development into executive leadership roles.
