Ko Tayla Taylor toku ingoa
Tayla is passionate about youth development and empowering rangatahi to build upon their strengths. She loves bring people together to connect and facilitate youth participation and leadership opportunities.
Tayla Taylor is a Kaiārahi (team leader) at VOYCE Whakarongo Mai, the independent advocacy service for care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi. At the heart of this kaupapa for Tayla is systems change, and wanting to create a better system for our care-experienced rangatahi of tomorrow.
Also developing a passion for positive youth development and youth participation, Tayla looks for collaborative opportunities to bring young people to the forefront of decision making and leadership opportunities. She has 10 years of experience in the youth sector, starting out in youth councils, moving on to spend time working for Rerenga Awa and youth participation network Youth Voice Canterbury before landing at VOYCE. Tayla is now a member of the Korowai Tupu Rōpū, working to advocate for youth workers in Aotearoa and support a membership of safe, ethical and competent youth work practitioners.
Tayla also likes to take on extra projects that align to her values and strengths including event/project management roles. Currently Tayla is Project Lead for Leadership Lab’s Puāwai programme, delivering strengths coaching and working to develop intersectional young changemakers in Ōtautahi. In her spare time Tayla runs The Curve Collective, a kaupapa creating inclusive spaces and accessible shopping experiences for plus size folks.
